Director Gemma Fairlie has been working with the Birthplace in-house acting troupe Shakespeare Aloud for the last few weeks, preparing for an exciting summer of unique performances of some of the greatest scenes and speeches from Shakespeare’s plays.  As a Shakespeare specialist, Gemma’s knowledge of and passion for the art of acting in the period when Shakespeare was writing and acting in his own plays is truly inspirational.  After an intense rehearsal period, Shakespeare Aloud are now out in the garden of the Birthplace and in around the house itself entertaining visitors with drama, comedy and of course romance – seven days a week.  Where else can you see the scene from  Romeo and Juliet performed in the house where the teenage William Shakespeare would first have turned his thoughts to love?  Look out for blogs from the Shakespeare Aloud actors coming up over the next couple of weeks.
