Jon Anderson from New Zealand as Petruchio from The Taming of the Shrew

It’s not just our-in house actors, Shakespeare Aloud, who put on amazing performances in Shakespeare’s Birthplace, our visitors can be pretty incredible too.  Jon Anderson from New Zealand had recently got through to the final stage of a national competition organised by the Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand, offering young New Zealanders the chance to work with professional actors from the Globe. Jon was happy to perform a scene from Taming of the Shrew with Shakespeare Aloud actress Catherine Prout upstairs at the Birthplace, to the delight of his uncle, aunt and fiance who looked on.

    Nephew Jon gives a stunning debut performance in Shakespeares Birthplace, Thanks to Catherine Prout for helping out at shuch short notice. Jon and Tegan had a great day in Stratford including a pint of beer in a English pub and a trip to see the Mouse and his child at the RSC.
