The Gingerbread Shakespeare Company (The GSC) were back in action this week entertaining visitors at Shakespeare’s Birthplace. With the help of colleagues from the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust Education Department and in particular Gill Jones who made the island, a suitable set was assembled for the performance of a scene from The Tempest. The Gingerbread players, cast here as the characters of Ferdinand and Miranda, were once again assisted by Rich Bunn and Jen Hodges of the SBT in-house acting troupe Shakespeare Aloud. We had an audience of one as we filmed the scene, a visitor who had come to visit the Birthplace for her birthday and she encouraged us by declaring the GSC to be a unique way of enjoying Shakespeare. We didn’t get her name but we would like to wish her happy birthday and thank her for her support.
